Freckled Jawn Brewing Gives Woodbury's Evergreen Avenue Brewery a Fresh Start

New

November 2, 2026 · Woodbury, NJ

Woodbury's brewery on Evergreen Avenue is pouring again under new owners and a new name. Freckled Jawn Brewing took over the former Eight & Sand Beer Co. space at 1003 N. Evergreen Ave. and celebrated its grand opening on October 9, 2026.

The name

Owners John and Colleen, Woodbury residents and big Philadelphia sports fans, borrowed the name from their basement bar. Freckles is John's nickname for Colleen, and Jawn nods to how she says his name, plus the Philly word everyone knows.

The room

Colleen led a full redesign of the tasting room, with new floors, deep green accent walls, a bar that seats about 15 on well padded stools and a leather lounge corner for quieter conversation. Plenty of screens line the bar for game days. Out back there is a covered yard, and the owners are already talking about bigger outdoor plans for spring. The room is dog friendly, too.

What's pouring

Brewer Matt Karg moved up from the Asheville area and is building an all-new lineup on the brewery's 10-barrel system, with a goal of about nine beers on tap. Early pours included Irish Goodbye, a coconut stout, and a coffee stout made with beans roasted by Talk N' Coffee in nearby Deptford.

Bottom line

If you loved this corner of Woodbury in its Eight & Sand days, it is worth a visit to see what Freckled Jawn has done with it. Check the brewery's Instagram for current hours and the latest tap list.
