Brewed for Laguna San Ignacio The beer supports WILDCOAST's gray whale conservation work at Laguna San Ignacio in Baja California Sur, Mexico. The lagoon is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Whale Sanctuary of El Vizcaíno and is described as the last undeveloped gray whale nursery on Earth. According to the release, researchers there have counted far fewer mother and calf pairs in recent seasons, down from over 100 to fewer than 20, with only four documented in 2026. Hill City Brewing opened its brewery and taproom on September 4, 2026, at 357 Chestnut Street in the city's West End, in a building the city's planning records describe as a conversion into a brewing production area, taproom, and retail space. Brooklyn roots, upstate home According to The Daily Star, Hill City comes from partners Jordan Beldner and Michael O'Brien, who run two craft beer businesses downstate. They bought the 18,000-square-foot property in June 2025 after running out of room in Brooklyn. Head brewmaster Salvatore Taccetta, originally from the Hudson Valley, previously brewed at the partners' downstate locations, and his beers have earned recognition at the New York State Craft Beer Competition over the past three years. Built to experiment Behind the Chestnut Street taproom sit 3-, 10-, and 20-barrel fermentation vessels. The smaller tanks give Taccetta room to keep around ten different beers going and try out new recipes. The taproom also runs a mug club and has started Faculty Fridays to welcome professors from the area's colleges. Beer purchases run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., while supplies last. A peanut butter cup in porter form Yuengling built the new beer on the roasted malt character of its Dark Brewed Porter, then added roasted peanut and cocoa flavors with a peanut butter cup in mind. The brewery describes fresh peanut butter on the nose, creamy, nutty flavors, and subtle chocolate notes, finishing malty and balanced rather than overly sweet. The release artwork sums it up in three words: rich, creamy, smooth. Yuengling has not listed an ABV in its announcement. Part of a year of Eagle Series drops The Eagle Series is Yuengling's rotating run of limited, small-batch specialty beers, released at the brewery in Pottsville.
