Breaking News? “Happy Taps” Taking Over Beer Zombies Bottle Shop on Warm Springs in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas locals and craft beer lovers are buzzing with speculation as Beer Zombies Bottle Shop on Warm Springs in Las Vegas has quietly closed its doors. Known for its eclectic selection of unique brews and a cult-like following, Beer Zombies is still a favorite of beer aficionados in the area with their brewery near downtown. The closure came with little warning, leaving fans wondering what’s next for the space that had become a beloved hangout for craft beer lovers and neighborhood locals alike. But there’s a new twist: it looks like Beer Zombies won’t be gone for long without a replacement. Right next door to the popular SkinnyFats, a new name has appeared on the horizon – Happy Taps. No official announcement has been made, but rumors are swirling that SkinnyFats might be behind this new venture. The resemblance to the SkinnyFats branding, right down to the playful smiley face and the name’s upbeat vibe, has fans drawing some intriguing conclusions.A New Concept in the Making? If the connection between SkinnyFats and Happy Taps is real, this would be a notable expansion for the brand known for its unique “Live Healthy, Live Happy” menu. SkinnyFats has carved out a loyal customer base by catering to both the health-conscious and the indulgent with a menu split into “healthy” and “happy” options. Could Happy Taps be the latest addition to this concept – a place to enjoy a range of taps in a fun, laid-back atmosphere? It would make sense for SkinnyFats to bring a new kind of beverage experience to complement its distinctive food offerings, especially in an area that already has a loyal following. What We Know (and What We Don’t)At this point, details are sparse, and neither SkinnyFats nor Beer Zombies has made an official statement. Some locals have even reported seeing work being done on the space formerly occupied by Beer Zombies, hinting that changes are already underway. A new sign on the street marquee for “Happy Taps” has already gone up but no other external branding seems to be visible on the building. We will get some photos soon.As SkinnyFats continues to evolve, a venture like Happy Taps could align perfectly with their brand philosophy. “Live Hoppy, Drink Happy,” anyone? The SkinnyFats Connection: Coincidence or Master Plan? The proximity of Happy Taps to SkinnyFats can’t be ignored, but without official confirmation, we’re left with speculation. If SkinnyFats is indeed behind Happy Taps, it would be a strategic move, allowing them to cater to a lively audience that loves unique food and drink experiences. This wouldn’t be SkinnyFats' first creative spin-off; they’ve experimented with different concepts before, always keeping an eye on what resonates with their customer base.Could this new spot be a taproom experience with the same creative twist SkinnyFats brings to its food? Will we see a menu of craft beers alongside quirky, fun food options? For now, all we can do is speculate. As more details emerge, we’ll keep you updated on what’s next for the spot that was once Beer Zombies. Whether Happy Taps will live up to the legacy of its predecessor remains to be seen, but for now, it seems like Las Vegas may be getting a new destination to “drink happy.”Stay tuned for updates – as soon as we know more, you’ll be the first to hear!Happy Taps - Warm Springs - Las Vegas NV

Here's what's happening:The Sad Goodbye to Astronomy AleworksLast month, the local favorite Astronomy Aleworks announced its permanent closure. Despite their efforts, the post-Covid Las Vegas beer scene proved challenging without additional financial support. Neon Desert Brewing Finds a New Home in HendersonIn brighter news, Neon Desert Brewing has officially moved into the space formerly occupied by Bad Beat Brewing in Henderson's Booze District. The Beer Team visited Neon Desert several times a few years ago on a trip to Vegas and was impressed by their friendly team and great vibe. We look forward to seeing what they will be doing in their new location. Bad Beat Brewing's New Chapter in the Arts DistrictMeanwhile, Bad Beat Brewing is not bowing out but relocating to the Arts District set to open in June. Please follow their social media to stay up to date on their progress, we will also post updates as we see them.Beer Zombies Brewing Co. Established in 2013 and nestled just off Fremont Street, Beer Zombies has become a cult favorite, known for its Hazy IPAs, Decadent stouts, fruited sours, and core clean beers, all adorned with horror-inspired can art. Celebrating a decade of brewing, collaborations, and community engagement, Beer Zombies is taking over the former Tenaya Creek Brewery, promising to continue the legacy of both brands under one roof. With a commitment to quality and creativity, Beer Zombies invites beer lovers to explore its vast offerings, making it a must-visit spot in Las Vegas's thriving brewery scene.A Glimpse Into the Future: Cin-Cin Brewhouse and Seafood BarLastly, the former Neon Desert space downtown will soon welcome Cin-Cin Brewhouse and Seafood Bar, led by Chef Virakone Vongphachanh ("Chef V"). This new venture promises to be a noteworthy addition to Las Vegas's culinary and brewing landscape. These developments reflect the ever-evolving nature of the Las Vegas beer scene.
Tasty Beer: 4 Great Benefits of Visiting Local Breweries

There's something special about visiting a local brewery. The atmosphere is relaxed, the beer is fresh, and the people are friendly. It's a place where you can truly appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into every pint. But aside from the great vibes and tasty brews, there are some hidden benefits to visiting a local brewery.1. Supporting Local Businesses and the EconomyOne of the most significant benefits of visiting a local brewery is the direct impact it has on the local economy. When you choose to spend your money at a local brewery, you're supporting a small business that's contributing to the growth and development of your community. Local breweries create jobs and contribute to the tax base, which in turn helps to fund essential services and infrastructure improvements.Additionally, local breweries often source their ingredients from nearby suppliers, which means your dollars are helping to support not just the brewery but also local farmers and other businesses. By choosing to patronize a local brewery, you're playing a role in fostering a thriving, sustainable local economy.2. Freshness and QualityThere's no denying that the beer you'll find at a local brewery is fresher than anything you'll find at the store. Breweries typically produce beer in smaller batches, which means that the beer you're drinking has likely been brewed within the last few weeks or even days. The result is a fresher, more flavorful beer that simply can't be matched by mass-produced alternatives. On top of that, local breweries have the freedom to experiment with different ingredients and brewing techniques, which leads to a diverse selection of high-quality, unique beers. When you visit a local brewery, you'll be able to taste these creations firsthand and even provide feedback, which can help the brewers to refine their recipes and continue to innovate.3. Environmental SustainabilityChoosing to visit a local brewery can also have a positive impact on the environment. Since the beer is produced and consumed locally, it doesn't have to travel long distances to reach your glass. This reduces the carbon emissions associated with transportation and helps to minimize the overall environmental footprint of the beer you're enjoying. Many local breweries also prioritize sustainable practices in their operations, including using energy-efficient equipment, recycling water, and implementing waste reduction measures. By supporting these businesses, you're helping to promote a greener, more sustainable future for the brewing industry.4. Building Community ConnectionsFinally, visiting a local brewery is a great way to connect with your community. Breweries often serve as gathering places where people can come together to socialize, network, and bond over a shared love of beer. Attending brewery events, such as taproom trivia nights or live music performances, can help you to meet new people and form lasting friendships. Moreover, many local breweries are actively involved in giving back to their communities through charitable donations and fundraising events. By visiting a local brewery, you're not only supporting a small business, but you're also contributing to the overall well-being of your community.ConclusionThere are many great reasons to visit a local brewery, from supporting your local economy to enjoying fresh, unique beers. By choosing to spend your money at a local brewery, you're helping to create a more sustainable, connected, and prosperous community. So the next time you're in the mood for a cold one, consider skipping the big-name brands and giving your local brewery a try.
New Brewery Opening In Spring Grove, IL

A new brewery is coming to Northern Illinois in Spring Grove. Pratt Brewing Co. will be offering beer releases to the public for local pick-up at our Spring Grove brewery. Pick-ups will be available on a first-come, first-served basis only. While they wait for state approvals, all of their award-winning beers will be available for distribution and retail sale only, with a future taproom opening date to be announced at a later date.Pratt Brewing Company sparked as an interest, which has been forged into a passion. The Pratts, currently work in Spring Grove, IL at the local forge shop, Scot Forge, where they also met. Like many, they had an interest in craft beer and soon wanted to try thier hand at homebrewing. It all started with a for-fun, something-to-learn-together, brewing class using the setup provided by their kitchen stove, in 2017. Since then, they have been developing several signature beers, expanding their equipment beyond the stove, and experimenting using all the fun science that comes with the craft of brewing. This work has inspired them to open a brewery featuring and future taproom with a rotation of thier latest drafts.Staying local was crucial to them. The Spring Grove community is not only where the couple works but where they spend their lives and have grown a family. They knew this was the only place to begin to grow a beer business.

Why Choose Independent Breweries?

Beer is the new wine. And that's great news for beer lovers, who get to enjoy an endless variety of styles, flavors, and experiences. However, not all beers are created equal. In fact, a large percentage are owned by just a handful of corporations—including Budweiser, Miller Lite, and Corona! If you're a beer lover (and aren't we all?), it's important to know that drinking craft or independent beer supports local (and often immigrant) communities and encourages innovation. Here are just a few benefits that come from choosing independent breweries over the big guys:Why Independent Brewers MatterIndependent breweries are the backbone of craft beer. These small business owners support their communities and provide quality products that you can get behind. They're also innovating on a variety of styles, like hazy IPAs and sessionable sour beers. Plus, they're drinking local! So what makes independent breweries different from their corporate counterparts? Why should you choose independent beer over those from big-name brands? We'll tell you why in this article:Community SupportIndependent brewers are invested in their communities. They have a stake in the success and prosperity of the places where they operate, because their own success is tied to it. This means that independent breweries are more likely to give back to their local communities through charitable contributions, purchasing from local suppliers or services, and supporting local businesses.Innovating and Expanding StylesWhen you drink with an independent brewery, you’re helping to support their unique craft. In return, they’ll provide you with beers that are innovative and exciting.Independent breweries are constantly experimenting with new ingredients and brewing techniques in order to push the boundaries of what beer can be. Some examples of this include:using various types of fruits or vegetables in their beers (such as peaches)incorporating different grains or other fermentables into the brewing process (like rye)experimenting with different temperatures during fermentation (like lagers vs ales)creating hybrid styles by mixing different types together (e.g., Irish Red Ale vs American Amber Ale).VarietyOne of the great things about independent breweries is their variety. There are so many different kinds of beer, and each brewery has its own style that it specializes in. Some breweries only offer one kind of beer, while others also make multiple types—and many often create seasonal brews! If you like to try new things or if you're always on the lookout for something new and exciting to try, an independent brewery is a great place to go. The best thing about this is that even if a particular brew isn't your favorite, there's no reason not to keep trying until you find something that suits your tastes!More SustainableSupporting local farmers. Supporting local farmers means supporting the planet on a larger scale. There is no need to ship ingredients distances if it can be grown locally, reducing the carbon footprint of your beer.Supporting local communities. Supporting your community with jobs and business opportunities helps make everyone's lives better while also keeping your local economy strong!Supporting local businesses by buying their goods or services instead of products manufactured elsewhere improves the economy and helps keep money circulating within the community rather than being shipped off to another company outside of town (and out of state!). This leads us right into:Supporting these beer artisans in your area by enjoying yourself or how about giving local craft beer at holidays like Christmas or birthdays. That kind of support goes a long way towards helping them continue making awesome products!Drinking craft beer is great on a whole bunch of levels.Drinking craft beer is great on a whole bunch of levels. Drinking locally-brewed beer with locally sourced ingredients like wild yeasts, hops or barley helps the local communities and surrounding states.Craft breweries have been popping up everywhere lately because people see how good they are – not just with their beers but also with their contributions to our communities and tourism as well!ConclusionSo the next time you’re at the bar, or at a restaurant, or in the store looking for something to drink, show some love to your local craft brewers and try one of their beers. Better yet find your local brewery and experience their passion for craft beer yourself. You might be surprised by how much it changes how you look at beer in general.
