Its main brewery and its taproom are located down the street from each other and both serve pioneering yet traditional ales. The two staple beers from Dancing Gnome are undoubtedly Lustra and Infinite Highway.LustraLustra is an American pale ale.
A Starter Guide to Creating a Brand for Your Craft Brewery

While you don’t exactly have to be a design whiz in order to start developing your craft brewery’s brand, it is an important part of the process that you’ll want to invest in. Think about some of the breweries you’ve visited that have really caught your eye. What was the logo? How were their beers labeled? Did they have creative names for each brew? What do you think of when the name of this brewery comes to mind? These are all important questions to ask yourself, and then try to emulate the key parts of the answers in your own designs for your brand. Choosing a Good NameOf course, the first step is choosing a name that can truly act as a launch pad for a memorable brand. It’s the first impression you’ll make on people, and you want it to be positive and lasting. A good name can connect your customers with your brand almost immediately. And remember, renaming your business is a whole other can of worms — so you definitely want to try to get this right the first time.Design a Killer LogoThis might be something that you actually want to outsource. Graphic design can be pricey, but it’s almost always worth it in the end. The craft beer industry is only continuing to grow, which means more competition is popping up by the day. In order to really make a splash in the industry, you need to stand out- and part of that is having a killer logo. The perfect logo is unique but still identifies you clearly as a brewery. The logo will go quite literally everywhere — your website, your signage, even your merchandise. So, make sure it’s a good one!Pick a cohesive color schemeNothing is worse than spending time and effort choosing a memorable name and logo, only to have it be ruined by a color scheme that isn’t aesthetically pleasing. As a rule of thumb, you should consider sticking to neutral, dark colors with a pop of bold color. You want the colors of your design to be warm and inviting while still standing out among the competition.Consider the Location and Layout of Your TaproomYou may not immediately think that the location and layout of your taproom would be a major part of your brand, but it is! The best location will be in an attractive neighborhood that is in close proximity to the clientele you’re trying to attract. Consider the size of the location and the must-have elements of the space. Do you need a large space to host events? A staging area for live music? What about an outdoor space? All of these and more are important questions to ask, because they will immensely impact the vibe of the space and, therefore, your brewery. Think about how you want people to feel when they walk inside, and start there. This is Just the StartOf course, this isn’t a comprehensive guide to building a brand! Instead, it’s a place to start. Consider these elements the building blocks of a killer brewery brand.

5 Amazing Breweries to try next time you're in the DFW Area

What is a trip to a new city without stopping by at least one brewery? The Dallas/Fort Worth area is huge and, therefore, it boasts a ton of awesome local craft breweries. We’ve got a list of five of the best that you should definitely add to your list, whether you are a resident or are just passing through.Deep Ellum Brewing Co -- DallasDeep Ellum Brewing Co was actually the first craft brewery in Dallas, making it a must-visit in the area. They have continued to develop the boldness of their brand since opening its doors in 2011. Currently, they offer 16 beers in their Dallas taproom, each one with a distinct flavor profile. You are sure to feel anything but the status quo while visiting this brewery.Denton County Brewing Co. -- DentonThis brewery is located directly in downtown Denton, and it’s often described as an adult playground. Denton County Brewing Co curates a laid-back environment where you can retreat after a long day at work or to join friends for some daytime suds. The brewery is locally owned and serves not only independently crafted beers but also wine, cider, sake, and the occasional guest brew. Games, trivia nights, and more are always welcome at the Denton County Brewing Co.Bitter Sisters Brewing -- AddisonBitter Sisters Brewing is a family affair! That makes it a tight-knit group that curates only the best for its community. Theirs is a simpler tasting room than some of the others on this list, which only adds to the close-knit atmosphere. And if you want to see how the beer gets made, you can join them for a Saturday tour.Pegasus City Brewery -- DallasPegasus City Brewery prides itself on the drinkability of its beers. Each one is developed to have an incredibly balanced flavor profile. On the menu, you’ll find a list of classics, as well as some more adventurous brews. But rest assured each is as delicious as the last. The brewery has been open since 2011 and views craft beer as not just a recreational activity, but an art form.Four Bullets Brewery -- RichardsonThe story behind Four Bullets is a fun one. The venture started with a home brewing kit and two friends who were determined to begin creating their own delicious beers. They soon decided to expand their home brewing system to that of a scaled-down commercial model and, after several more years, they took the leap to debut their beers to the public. The rest, as they say, is history. The history of the establishment can be tasted in every beer.Next time you’re looking for some great, local craft beers, check out one of these places! We promise, you will not be disappointed.

What to Expect at a Beer Festival

Beer festival season is right around the corner! Sampling craft beers is a beloved pastime that stretches well across the four corners of the globe, and beer festivals have a culture all their own. Whether you’re a timid first-timer or a seasoned veteran, this list will help you learn how to navigate the typical beer fest with ease. Here are the basics of what to expect from your standard craft beer festival:SO MANY Craft Beer Options…Duh! It’s a beer fest! There will be so many options that you may be overwhelmed with choices. Check out the beer list ahead of time and make a plan to hit your favorite brewery’s booth, snag a taste of a few limited edition brews, and still have room to try new-to-you beers from the list that spark your interest. Alternatively, you may wander aimlessly through the maze of vendors and enjoy many happy accidents, try a little of this and a little of that, and discover new favorites along the way. Choose your own adventure!Phenomenal Food VendorsGreat beer and delicious food are the two hallmarks of a spectacular beer festival. The food truck and vendor fare are often made up of classic beer companions, usually consisting of burgers, pizza, hotdogs, tacos, pretzels, BBQ, and more. However, a few surprises will await from honey spiced duck and braised lamb shanks to kale and snap pea salads. Eat well, and often! Make sure you’re not drinking on an empty stomach – split entrees with friends and try several different vendors to make the most of your festival experience.Brewery FreebiesAre there any two words sweeter together than free stuff? Craft breweries often bring tons of branded beer merch to hand out at beer fests – string bags, koozies, sunglasses, coasters, keychains and the like are all up for grabs. Don’t weigh yourself down with one of everything – it’s okay to turn down things you don’t absolutely love or won’t use.Additional Tips for a Great Beer Festival Experience:Wear sun protection.Nothing ruins a good vibe faster than a painful sunburn. Plan ahead for outdoor festivals and wear appropriate protective gear like a hat, a UV-rated top, and SPF to make sure you will enjoy the memories and can skip the aloe for the foreseeable future. Hashtag no regrets.Stay hydrated!Hydration is key to a successful event (and to avoiding a gnarly hangover the following day). In between every round of cheers, slam a glass (or two) of H2O. Drinking water also helps you pace yourself so you can keep the good times rollin’. Use the buddy system: have a friend remind you to drink water and vice versa.Have a plan to get home (and a backup just in case).Whether home for the night is a nearby hotel or your own cozy digs, make sure you can get there safely after a long day of drinking. Bring a designated driver, get a bus pass ready, or plan to take a cab or an Uber to leave the beer fest. Prepare a Plan A and B in the event that something unexpected happens: cabs are full, your DD accidentally overindulges, or you misjudge your limit and suddenly can’t drive home. Don’t get behind the wheel if you’re not sober enough to drive.Familiarize yourself with festival policies before you go.What is the tasting limit? Is there a limit? What Covid policies and procedures are they enforcing? Is water readily available or should you take a refillable bottle just in case? Do you need to have extra cash on hand for tipping or food vendors? These are all great questions to ask yourself to prepare for a festival and the answers can often be found on the festival’s website. Now you’re an expert in the ways of the beer fest and ready to plan your experience! Check out our Beer Festivals and Events page for upcoming festivals in your area. Cheers!

Kitchen Brigade – Davenport IA

UNFORTUNATELY THEY HAVE CLOSEDOn a recent trip, we stumbled across a gem in Davenport Iowa, the Kitchen Brigade located inside Stompbox Brewery. The passion the chef puts into his food is clearly tasted in this exquisite small menu of unique dishes. One of our favorites had to be the Pork Tomahawk Schnitzel with mustard cream, onion fennel relish, and brown butter spaetzle. The size of this thing alone will take you aback. If you are looking for a place to awaken your tastebuds in the Quad Cities, Kitchen Brigade should be near the top of your list. This restaurant is located inside Stompbox Brewery, which by the by has some amazing brews. Some of our team was in Davenport Iowa for an event and as we do in every city found a brewery that serves food as well; nothing better than a great meal and flight of delicious beer after a long 12-hour day. We were not going into the evening expecting to be WOW'd, but we sure were wrong. You would not suspect the level of culinary delight from a small kitchen window in a local brewery; in Davenport IA for that matter. (No offense to all you Davenport'ers, but you know what we mean this level of food is normally found in large metropolitan cities). From the moment our appetizers arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. The meal was flawless and the chef even made a point to come out to every table to ensure all of his guests were happy. If you are even in Davenport, be sure to give Kitchen Brigade a try!
